Racoon Ranglers

Thats right folks, the critter living in our walls and attic was a RACOON!
It all started last year when we heard somthing in our outside wall of our gameroom. We hoped it would go away (so naive), but instead it decided to have babies in there. We could hear them crying. Ew! So, we called around and had someone come out, but they wanted to charge us like $800 to put traps up there. Uh, no! I can put a trap up there myself, thank you. So I bought one, but before I got it up there, it apparently had moved out. (Must have heard I was coming for it. hehe) Well, as I posted in my January 18th blog, it came back. But this time it was moving around in all of the gameroom walls and all over the attic. Ick! And from the sound of it moving around, it was sounding way bigger than a squirrel, which was what we orriginally thought it was. So, I got to thinking that the trap I had bought last year wasn't nearly big enough to catch what was up there. Yay for Lowe's, because they took the old one back (it had never been opened) without a receipt, and I payed the difference for the BIG trap. Yesterday, we finally put it in the attic, and a few hours later, we had us a coon! But then we didn't know what to do with it. Hmmm....... Now everyone knows I am a huge animal lover, but this thing has been making me crazy, and my sympathy for it was pretty much gone. So, when B was putting the trap in the attic and he turned to me and said, "You know I'm going to have to shoot this thing when we catch it?", I actually said "Good!". I know! I even shocked myself when I said that! But after we caught it, we realized that firing a gun in our backyard would probably not go over too well with the neighbors. What to do, what to do......? Well, the only thing we could think to do......and I should say we were getting panicky, because at this point we had the stinky thing in a cage, inside of a box, in the middle of our living room, and those things are crafty, and we could see that it was trying to devise an ecsape plan, and it was looking like it might suceed......was to drive it away somewhere and let it go......and hope it didn't find it's way back, which I image is highly likely. So, we loaded it into B's car, rolled down the windows, stuck our heads out (that thing was really smelly), and drove away. Stinky is now in Porter, Texas.
But, wait! This business is not over because, I forgot to mention, Stinky wasn't living in our attic alone. There's at least one more we have to catch.
Here's Stinky trying to look all cute......almost worked.......
The release
So long Stinky!

Please don't come back!
